In the framework of the Operational Programme “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning” (NSRF 2014-2020) -priority axes 6, 8, 9, co-funded by Greece and the European Union (European Social Fund)- the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) has been implementing cycles of scholarship programmes for doctoral studies in Greece, covering three (3) scientific fields.
Main objectives of the programme:
- Supporting new researchers and ensuring high-quality research outcomes in doctoral research.
- Award criterion: scientific excellence of the submitted proposals.

Programme Action: “Supporting human capital in research through doctoral research studies – 2nd cycle”
Seven hundred (700) scholarships for a maximum duration of three years, for doctoral candidates enrolled in Greek Higher Education Institutions/Technological Educational Institutes, provided their Three-Member Advisory Committee was appointed after 01/01/2016.
Programme Action: “Supporting human capital in research through doctoral studies”
Beneficiaries are doctoral candidates whose Three-Member Advisory Committee was no later than eighteen (18) months before the deadline for the electronic submission of the applications (15/08/2016).
Programme Action: “Programme for the award of scholarships for second cycle postgraduate studies”
Beneficiaries are doctoral candidates whose Three-Member Advisory Committee has been appointed between 18 and 36 months prior to the deadline for the electronic submission of applications (15/05/2017). The Three-Member Advisory Committee should have appointed between 01/07/2013 and 10/01/2015.
Programme Action: Supporting human capital through doctoral research – Sub-action 2: IKY Scholarships programme for doctoral candidates enrolled in Greek HEIs
Five hundred (500) scholarships for a maximum duration of sixteen months, aimed at ensuring the timely completion of their doctoral studies in Greece. Beneficiaries are doctoral candidates whose Three-Member Advisory Committee was appointed between 01/05/2017 and 30/06/2019.
