The IKYDA (IKY-DAAD) programme is a scheme based on a bilateral agreement between IKY and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD-Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) already operating since 2000 and aimed at further promoting scientific collaboration between Greek and German Higher Education Institutions and research institutes.
The programme is aimed at teams of scientists or researchers, in particular early-carrier researchers, working at all disciplines, and each one team under a scientific supervisor, who undertake to jointly develop and implement research projects with their partners in Germany through mutual exchange visits. The IKY funding is to cover travel and daily maintenance costs in Germany for the Greek participants. The funding period is set to one or two consecutive years.
Applications are to be submitted by the scientific supervisor of the project to the National Agency of the corresponding country (IKY – DAAD). The research team of each country should have three (3) members at a minimum, and six (6) members at a maximum, involving the scientific supervisor in both cases.
Eligible to participate are Teaching and Research Academic Staff, researchers in Greek research institutes, postdoctoral fellows, PhD holders, PhD candidates or postgraduate students. Cooperation between two or more Institutions/Institutes working in one research project from Greece or Germany is eligible as well.
In line with IKY-DAAD agreement, the assessment of project applications is carried out in two stages, an interim one at the premises of each National Agency, and the final assessment by a joint Greek-German Assessment Committee which decides on the selection of the research projects.
