Since the academic year 2022-23, the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) has been offering programmes aiming to strengthen the participation of groups of students in international competitions held abroad in order to reward the best scientific team or the best participant in the scientific field in which they compete.
In particular, IKY sends an invitation to all the Secretariats of Greek Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) prompting them to gather and submit to IKY applications for the purpose of strengthening the pertinent HEI groups of students willing to participate in international competitions in the academic year concerned, certifying that these groups will represent their University Department in the subject competition.
In their applications, HEIs provide information on the groups willing to participate and also on their scientific coordinator stating also the competitions in which the groups intend to participate. The criteria based on which the Administrative Board of IKY will assess and select the groups of students are described in detail in the institutional framework governing the programme.
Through this programme, a lump sum funding of 500€ is awarded to each selected group member – student to participate in an international competition abroad.
