Nea Ionia, 10/10/2024
PRESS RELEASE
On Wednesday, 9 October 2024, a celebration to honour the outgoing President and the Administrative Board of the State Scholarships Foundation in appreciation of their contribution and work throughout their four-year term of office was hosted on the initiative of the new President of the Administrative Board of IKY, Professor Vassiliki Kindi at the premises of IKY.
In her inaugural speech, the new President underlined the initiatives undertaken by the previous Administrative Board, which contributed to the modernising and upgrading of the Foundation, and stated the following: “Being the one to be handed over the baton, I wish to express my intention to continue your work and take it further, further and further. There are solid foundations on which to build due to the history of IKY, the work it carries out and the prestige it enjoys but also due to your paramount contribution which has led IKY to a brand new era”.
Ms. Kindi also pointed out the significant role that IKY has played throughout the years in the country’s path to growth: “The support provided by IKY through its diverse actions is reflected on the country. IKY places Greece on the international scene, promotes it to an interlocutor of equal par status, turns it into a reference point and provides it with human resources and the knowledge to advance. Thus, research is fertilised, education is renewed and both the labour market and the production sector are manned. I believe that the contribution that IKY has made to the country’s growth is priceless; it is multidimensional; it is worth to be studied. It would be a good idea indeed to announce scholarships on this topic”.
In his speech, the outgoing President of the Administrative Board of IKY Mr. Michael Koutsilieris made a brief outline of the history of the Foundation and its significant role for the country, while he pointed out that it has been a great honour for him having undertaken the position of the President of the Administrative Board of this great Foundation. Mr. Koutsilieris referred to the significant contribution that the scholarship programmes, managed by IKY, have made to the society, while he thanked the executives and the personnel of IKY for their cooperation throughout all these years. Finally, Mr. Koutsilieris stated that he is certain that the new Administrative Board will carry on the development course of the Foundation, so that more and more young people have the opportunity to access higher studies in new and established scientific fields and the labour market.
