Electra Chatzidimitriou, IKY-Fulbright scholar, shares her experience with us!

Ms. Electra Chatzidimitriou moved to the United States as a Ph.D. candidate from the School of Psychology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her main field of research is Clinical Neuropsychology, with a particular focus on the predictive factors of longitudinal changes in everyday functioning in patients with the behavioral variant of frontotemporal dementia (bvFTD).

As part of the IKY-Fulbright Scholarship, Ms. Chatzidimitriou conducted a six-month research placement at the Memory and Aging Center, Department of Neurology, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), one of the world’s leading research centers in neurodegenerative diseases, under the supervision of Dr. Katherine Rankin.

“Through the IKY-Fulbright Scholarship, I had the opportunity to be part of one of the most renowned research centers worldwide in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. This experience had a profound impact on both my academic and personal development. It enabled me to further delve into the field of my Ph.D. and acquire valuable research skills that will be invaluable in my further academic path. At the same time, during my six-month stay in the United States, I had the chance to interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, a fact which contributed to my intellectual growth and helped me develop a broader, more enriched way of thinking and living”.
