The Info Day on EPALE, the Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe, held on Tuesday, 24 September 2024, at the University of Western Macedonia in Kozani, was crowned with great success.

The aim of the Info Day was to inform representatives of bodies active in the fields of adult education and Vocational Education and Training on how the EPALE platform works as well as on the opportunities offered for its users.

IKY has been appointed as the National Support Service for EPALE in Europe. In the framework of the current programme, its objective is to support and inform the workforce of the areas of Greece which have become lignite-free, prepare them for their transition to the post-lignite eras and provide opportunities for retraining and skills reorientation.

The event was addressed by the Deputy Head of the Unit of European Union Programmes, Mr. Leonidas Papastergiou, as well as by the Vice Rector of International Relations, Extraversion and Holistic Care of the University of Western Macedonia, Ms. Eleni Griva.

The EPALE platform was presented by IKY executives as well as by the representative of the platform ambassadors and Head of the Second Chance School of Domokos, Mr. Nikolaos Mallios, who gave practical advice on how to use the platform. The Head of the Centre of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM) – University of Western Macedonia, Mr. Menalaos Tzifipoulos, also attended the meeting and presented the actions and programmes of KEDIVIM.

Participants were extremely interested in the workshops organised on how to submit an application for the Erasmus+ programmes in the fields of adult education and Vocational Education and Training.
