Nea Ionia, 21/03/2025

PRESS RELEASE

A new working meeting was held on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, by the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) / NA, with the participation of school and organization representatives, marking the conclusion of a series of discussions on the horizontal priority “Inclusion and Diversity”.

The purpose of the meeting was to explore ways to strengthen the participation of people with disabilities in the Erasmus+ Programme. The discussion focused on the challenges faced by organizations and individuals with disabilities in organizing and conducting mobility activities abroad, as well as on collecting proposals to facilitate the implementation of future projects involving people with disabilities.

The meeting was coordinated by Mr. Ioannis Bousdounis, Head of the Directorate of Special Education at the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, and Dr. Fai Antoníou, Associate Professor of Educational Psychology of Individuals with Special Educational Needs at the Department of Primary Education, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Representatives of IKY presented the key principles and guidelines for integrating this priority into Erasmus+ projects.

It is worth noting that two additional focus group meetings were held in November and December 2024, involving representatives of schools and organizations working with migrant/refugee and Roma populations.

The outcomes of all three meetings will be incorporated into the strategic plan for Inclusion and Diversity of IKY/NA for the 2021–2027 programming period, aiming to further promote the participation of individuals with fewer opportunities in the Erasmus+ Programme.
