The Association of the State Scholarships Foundation Scholars held its new year’s celebration event on 6 February 2024 at the “Enastron coffee-book shop” in the presence of many older and future members of the Association.
The President of the Administrative Board of IKY, Professor Emeritus Michael Koutsilieris, as well as representatives of IKY Directorates honoured the event with their presence.
As pointed out by Mr. Koutsilieris “Without IKY Scholarships, awarded since 1951, new graduates would not have the opportunity to carry out postgraduate studies, excel both in Greece and abroad and, thus, significantly contribute to the scientific and social evolution of the country”. By presenting examples of former IKY scholars who had graduated with highest honours and who participated in the celebration for the 70 years of IKY, Mr. Koutsilieris underlined that these scholarships led to the creation of a pool of sufficiently numerous established scientists and excellent experts who through their specialized knowledge, impeccable professional profile, skills, sense of responsibility and their characteristic methodological approach have made an outstanding contribution to the Public Administration but also to the Private Sector, while the benefits both for Greece and the humanity as a whole are more than evident.
The statement of the President of IKY is in full harmony with the objectives of our Association, i.e. networking, developing synergies, fostering the spirit of solidarity and mutual support between members through the organisation of scientific and art events, promoting and defending excellence, innovation and meritocracy and, in general, supporting and contributing to the attainment of IKY objectives, with the overriding objective of contributing to the growth of the country.
At the end of this beautiful evening, everyone got souvenirs made from upcycled magazines and small art creations (trash-art), created by a member of the Association.
We would like to thank everyone for their participation. Through everyone’s attendance, we were able to strengthen the bonds between us and set new foundations for future actions and initiatives.
