28th of November 2012 – State Scholarships Foundation IKY’s Anniversary Event for its 60+1 successful years of service, at Zappeion Megaron, in Athens

IKY hosted an anniversary event on Wednesday the 28th of November 2012, at Zappeion Megaron in central Athens, celebrating its 61 years of continuous service. The event aimed to highlight IKY’s social role and its contribution as well as its potential future role to the country’s productivity reconstruction through the implementation of its new projects.

In his speech, IKY’s president Prof. Nicolas Demertzis, referred to the history of IKY and its special role as the National Scholarship Foundation as well as National Agency of the European Lifelong Learning Programme – LLP (2007- 2013): “State Scholarships Foundation IKY is much more than another scholarship institution, it is a vital and indispensable part of the Greek society, as it supports and promotes creativity and the innovative spirit. It invests on human resources in order to highlight the pioneering vigor of our country. Especially young people who can be the initiators so that we become again an action oriented and creative society. Our scholars, our achievements, prove that there are forces in Greece compatible with the modern world. This is the country that defines our future.”
